Osmania University should build necessary intelligentsia required to uphold Telangana: CM Revanth

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday said Osmania University owns up peoples problems anywhere in the State, and assured to approve plans for its development.

Addressing the 102nd Convocation of Osmania University here, the Chief Minister said there was a need to build the necessary intelligentsia required to uphold Telangana.

Mr. Reddy said OU has the privilege and responsibility to steer society toward progress, as it possesses the necessary human capital and intellectual prowess. He said the State government would extend all support to upgrade the university and enable it to find a place among the top universities in the country.

The Chief Minister said the State government would soon establish an exclusive Telangana Martyrs Memorial Museum in the university campus, to inspire students and remind them of the supreme sacrifice made by students and others during the separate State movement.

Mr. Reddy asked the students to actively involve themselves in the widespread development of Telangana, and assured them that the State government would provide all necessary support to excel in their careers and lives.

He said the State government would encourage research in areas like medicine, pure science, agriculture, and technology through institutions like Osmania University.

The Chief Minister asked the students to follow the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and recalled his association with Osmania University as a student, and later, as a professor.

He said Dr. Ambedkar had obtained a Doctor of Science degree from Osmania University, and later served as a professor in the Department of Economics.

Mr. Reddy called upon the students to follow the path shown by Dr. Ambedkar, and serve the people through their knowledge and skills.

The Chief Minister congratulated the students who graduated today, and urged them to serve the people and contribute to the development of the State and the Nation.

He said the State government would provide all necessary support to the graduates to establish themselves, and asked them to be innovative and job creators rather than job seekers.

Mr. Reddy said the State government would encourage and extend all support to the talented and innovative youth to develop their skills and start their enterprises.

He said the government would set up exclusive incubation centres in all universities to help the youth in their endeavors.

The Chief Minister said the State government would soon establish an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in the university campus, as a step toward making Hyderabad the Electronic City of India.

He said the EMC would help in developing the necessary ecosystem and provide employment opportunities for the students in the university campus itself.

Mr. Reddy said the State government had already initiated the process of setting up the EMC, and it would be ready in the coming months.

He said the government would also set up a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the university campus, in collaboration with the industry.

The Chief Minister said the CoE-AI would help in developing innovative solutions for various sectors, and provide a boost to the emerging technology ecosystem in the State.

He said the State government would soon establish a world-class Sports University in Hyderabad, to encourage sports and sports sciences.

Mr. Reddy said the Sports University would be established in the PPP mode, and would have all the necessary facilities and infrastructure to produce sports champions and scientists.

He said the State government would also establish a Centre of Excellence in Sports Psychology and Sports Medicine in the university campus, to help athletes and others involved in sports.

The Chief Minister said the CoE-Sports would have the best infrastructure and facilities, and would provide cutting-edge training and research in sports psychology and sports medicine.

He said the State government would also encourage and support the setting up of Start-up Companies and Incubation Centres in the university campus, to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

Mr. Reddy said the State government would provide all necessary support and funding to the Start-ups and Incubation Centres, through various schemes and initiatives.

He said the government would also provide job opportunities to the students in various departments and ministries, through its recruitment drives.

The Chief Minister said the State government would soon launch the second phase of the Palle Pragathi programme, to improve infrastructure and facilities in villages.

He said the government would also launch a new scheme, Chanakya Dampatsala, to provide free coaching to unemployed youth to excel in competitive examinations.

Mr. Reddy said the State government would continue to provide free laptops to all the youth who clear the Civil Services examinations, and assured them of all support to prepare for the exams.
