Jonathan Trott has been appointed as the new head coach of the Gulf Giants, ahead of the fourth edition of the UAE ILT20.
The former England and Warwickshire batsman, who earned 17 Test caps and over 30 ODI appearances, will take charge of the Giants alongside assistants Shane Bond, Andrew Puttick, Jamie Troughton and Nick Lee, who joins as the strength and conditioning coach.
The upcoming season, set to start in January 2023, will see the Giants look to improve on their second-place finish in the 2022 edition of the UAE's top-tier franchise T20 league.
Bond, a former Kiwi fast bowler, will work closely with the Giants' bowlers, while Jamie Troughton will focus on the squad's fielding skills. Puttick will take the responsibility of looking after the batting department alongside Trott.
"I'm excited to be joining the Gulf Giants and can't wait for the UAE ILT20 competition to start," said Trott.
"There is a lot of talent in the team and I'm looking forward to working with the players and support staff as we prepare for the new season," he added.
The upcoming season, scheduled to begin in January 2023, will see the Giants looking to go one better after finishing second in the previous edition of the UAE's franchise T20 league.
