Nellore, a city divided by the Survepalli and Krishnapatnam canals, is set to see two new bridges built, providing a vital connection between Audithya Nagar and Balaji Nagar and easing commuters' woes. The canals provide essential irrigation to local farms, but the existing bridges are not wide enough to handle the volume of traffic trying to connect the eastern and western parts of the city.
The bridges will be a game-changer for locals, offering easier access to Magunta Layout, Srihari Colony, and Ramalingapuram, providing a bypass around the mini-bypass road. "The existing bridges are not enough to allow free access to connect Eastern and Western Nellore areas," said Mr. Narayana. "These proposed four bridges will ensure better connectivity and avoid traffic jams around the current bridges."
Moreover, another bridge on the Ramireddy Drain is also proposed to connect Lecturers Colony in Magunta Layout and Srihari Colony to reduce the distance to Ramalingapuram, which will help avoid the detour through the mini bypass road to reach Ramalingapuram.
The Irrigation Minister, Devineni Umamaheswar Rao, is expected to approve funding for the construction of the four bridges. Meanwhile, officials said that estimates for three works have already been submitted for administrative approval. Estimates for the fourth work are currently being prepared.
With the city's fast-growing population, which has now surpassed 7 lakhs, these bridges will greatly impact locals, especially those who live on the eastern side of Nellore City, who have long complained of the difficulty in connecting to the city's western parts.
