Various assembly and parliament constituencies in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, witnessed a flurry of activity on Monday as political heavyweights filed their nominations ahead of the upcoming elections. Former Rajya Sabha MP and TDP candidate for the Nellore parliament constituency, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, led the way, filing his nomination at the district collectorate. Former Finance Minister and TDP candidate for the Atmakur assembly constituency, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, also filed his nomination after leading a massive rally in Atmakur earlier in the day.
Other prominent TDP leaders who filed their nominations in the district included former minister Ponguru Narayana, who is running for the Nellore city assembly seat, and Kakarla Suresh, the party's candidate for the Udayagiri seat. Interestingly, Narayana's wife, Rama Devi, also filed a set of nominations at the Nellore city assembly seat.
The YSRCP ministers and MLAs also joined the fray, filing their nominations across the district. Notable among them were Agriculture Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Sarvepalli assembly, Mekapati Vikram Reddy and Atmakur assembly, Madhusudhan Rao Burra at Kandukur, Mohammed Khaleel Ahmed at Nellore city assembly seat, and Adala Prabhakar Reddy at Nellore rural.
Speaking to the media after submitting their nominations, TDP leaders Prabhakar Reddy and Ramanarayana Reddy expressed confidence in a sweeping TDP wave across the state ahead of the crucial 2024 general elections. They predicted that the NDA alliance would secure a majority of seats and form the next government in Andhra Pradesh.
Similarly, Agriculture Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy and Atmakur MLA Mekapati Vikram Reddy from the YSRCP exuded confidence in Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's charisma and the successful implementation of an unprecedented number of welfare schemes in the last five years, which they said would help the YSRCP retain power in AP in the upcoming polls.
