Continuing his tirade against the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, the Nellore rural MLA, hinted at resigning from the party's fold and levelled startling allegations against the state government. The YSRCP MP from Ongole suspected his phone to be tapped and aired his grievances through a press conference.
Reddy, who was addressing the media, said, "As per conventions, phones of anti-social elements and terrorists are put on surveillance to safeguard national interests." However, he alleged that the YSRCP-led state government tapped the phones of its own party MLAs, which was unfortunate. He claimed that this proved that the party had no confidence in him and had humiliated him on several occasions.
The Ongole MP expressed his disappointment at the ruling party's suspicion of him, considering his loyalty to the YSR family for over 30 years. He was also aggrieved at the phone tapping ordered by state government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.
Rebutting Reddy's allegations, energy minister and YSRC party affairs incharge for Nellore district Balineni Srinivasa Reddy termed the accusations as ridiculous. He believed that the Ongole MP was creating a scene to justify his move to join the Telugu Desam Party before the next general elections.
The minister believed that Reddy was plotting to desert the YSRCP and create a narrative to justify the move before the people by leveling baseless accusations against the ruling party. Notably, senior YSRC MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, representing the Venkatagiri assembly constituency, also accused the ruling party of tapping his phones.
