AP Circular Economy Waste Recycling Policy (4.0) Approved by State Cabinet

Andhras Pradesh Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approves AP Circular Economy Waste Recycling Policy (4.0) as India's first comprehensive circular economy and waste recycling policy. The policy will impact waste-to-wealth creation, MSME opportunities, infrastructure development, and more.

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting, held on Thursday under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved the AP Circular Economy Waste Recycling Policy (4.0) as Indias first comprehensive circular economy and waste recycling policy. The policy is aligned with the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision and aims to promote waste-to-wealth creation, facilitate MSME opportunities, and support infrastructure development.

The policy focuses on the dual-tier infrastructure model, industrial symbiosis, special task forces, and circular economy interactive dashboards. It will significantly impact local economies by allowing village panchayats to monetize nala fees and use the revenue for infrastructure development. Additionally, it addresses aspects of the A.P. Tourism Land Allotment Policy 2024-2029, including land allocation procedures and declared land use for tourism projects.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to rename the Official Language Commission as the Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Official Language Commission to honor the key role Rao played in establishing the commission and formulating its objectives. The meeting also approved addendum additions to the A.P. Tourism Land Allotment Policy 2024-2029, including eligibility criteria and land bank notifications for tourism projects.

Other significant decisions include approving a draft bill to repeal the Andhra Pradesh Land (Conversion for Non-Agricultural Purposes) Act, 2006, appointing International Tennis Player Saketh Sai Myneni as Deputy Collector under the sports quota, and various land allocation proposals for educational institutions in the CRDA region. The AP Airport Development Corporation will initiate PPP concessionaire procurement for greenfield airport development at Kuppam in Chittoor district and Dagadarthi in Nellore district.

The Andhra Pradesh Prevention of Begging Act, 2006, will be amended to remove discriminatory phrases toward persons with disabilities. Other proposals approved include upgrading the Chintoor CHC to a 100-bed Area Hospital, creating additional posts, and upgrading the Naravaripalli CHC to a 50-bed hospital, among others.

The AP Circular Economy Waste Recycling Policy (4.0) is a landmark decision that marks a new approach to waste management and economic opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.
