Punjab govt takes action post-Hyderabad gang rape case

The recent gang rape case in Hyderabad has left the nation in shock, with demands for tighter security measures for women coming from all quarters. Responding to this, the Punjab Government has announced free police assistance for women in need.

"In light of recent horrific events, we want to ensure that women in Punjab feel safe and have access to the help they need, anytime, anywhere. We are committed to taking stricter measures to prevent such tragedies and provide swift justice," stated Chief Minister Singh.

The state government has also set up a special helpline number exclusively for women to provide emergency assistance and address their queries and concerns.

"We are committed to ensuring the safety of our women. This helpline will be continuously monitored 24/7, and we encourage all women to use it if they feel threatened or vulnerable," said Woman and Child Development Minister Ranjit Kaur.

According to some reports, police have been instructed to take strict action against eve-teasers and harassers and maintain a heightened presence in areas where women and girls congregate, like colleges and markets. Furthermore, investigations into previous complaints of sexual harassment are being re-examined and expedited.

It is hoped that these efforts by the Punjab Government will serve as a model for other states in ensuring that women across the country can feel safe and protected.

The nation's eyes are now on Punjab to see how these promises materialize, and if other states will follow suit.
