In a scathing attack on the ruling NDA government, RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused the administration of attempting to "snatch people's rights and destroy democracy". He criticised the government for "presenting democracy as a joke before the world".
The opposition leader criticised the NDA for their handling of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, claiming that the country's citizens were abandoned by the government, who failed to bring them home despite expressing concern.
"It is a matter of concern that our democracy is being presented as a joke in front of the world. NDA, who claim to have a massive mandate, are crushing democracy and snatching the rights of the citizens," Yadav said.
The RJD leader further criticised the government over the suspension of seven opposition MPs from Parliament, calling it a form of 'autocracy'.
"The dictatorial attitude of the government was witnessed when they recently suspended seven MPs from the Rajya Sabha. This action has brought disrepute to the parliament and is a direct challenge to the democracy," he said.
Yadav's comments come amid a growing protest movement against the government, with many alleging that democracy is under threat.
The former minister claimed that the NDA's attitudes ranged from "indifference to dictatorship", and that the ruling administration was becoming a symbol of "terrorism, hate, revenge, and autocracy".
"The people of the country are watching all this. The government should rethink its actions and behaviour. The people will give a fitting reply to this betrayal in the right time," he said.
