Sachin Tendulkar Reveals His Favourite Innings Was Not The Famous 98 Vs Pakistan In 2003 WC!

One of the most devastating batsmen to ever grace the 22 yards, Sachin Tendulkar, has had many memorable on-field moments which he can look back on fondly. While his brilliant 98 against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup continues to be etched in fan memories, the little master recently revealed that his favourite innings was not that one! In a recent interview, the former Indian captain picked his innings against Australia in the quarter-finals of the 2003 World Cup in which he scored 124 runs off just 131 balls.

"I think my best ODI innings was the quarter-final against Australia at Port Elizabeth. I was determined to finish the match and nothing else," Tendulkar told news18.com.

Tendulkar's stunning knockout innings guided India to a 91-run victory over Australia, topping their tally of 241 all out in 49.2 overs. This win propelled India into the semi-finals, where they faced a defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.

"I had a sickness patch before that game, I was diagnosed with food poisoning, I couldn't eat for two days," Tendulkar recalled.

Tendulkar, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2013, has numerous accolades under his belt. He holds the record for most appearances (200) and scores (45 centuries) for India. He also has the most centuries (100) across all formats, striking a record century (174) in an ODI versus Zimbabwe in 2000.

"That was the mindset then, I went out with a determination to win the match for my country and it is still close to my heart," Tendulkar added.

India may have lost that match against Sri Lanka, but fans continue to witness the impact of Tendulkar's glorious innings against Australia.
