News Article LG Reviews Delhi Polices Public Grievance Redressal System

Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal has recently reviewed the public grievance redressal system of Delhi Police, calling for the improvement of public interface by way of better training in soft skills for police officers.

The Delhi Police presented a detailed overview of their current system, which entails the reception of written and online complaints through various channels. It was disclosed that all written complaints received at the headquarters and district level from individuals and authorities are entered into a digitized Complaints Monitoring and Tracking System (CMTS) module.

The Delhi Police also mentioned the establishment of public facilitation desks at all police stations. These desks are designed to provide a conducive environment for the public to air their grievances, which are then addressed by the appropriate police officers. Currently, 160 of the territorial police stations have these desks in place.

The police added that Delhi Police has a structural mechanism for complaints resolution at the police headquarters, ranges, district, sub-divisional, and police station levels. Additionally, in every district, there is a specialized vigilance unit that handles complaints against police personnel.

The meeting also highlighted the availability of 24/7 helpline numbers PCR-100, women and child safety-1091 and 1096, and senior citizen helpline-1291 to respond to any calls.

In conclusion, the promise of training police officers in soft skills demonstrates the persistent effort to create a more effective and empathetic public grievance redressal system. Given the many avenues for complaint and the specialized desks and units, the Delhi Police seem to be committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all citizens.
