Cyberabad police bust rave party, arrest 6 in upscale suburb

Six people, including businessmen, a homemaker, a software engineer, and an engineering student, were arrested after the Cyberabad Police raided a drug party in the city's outskirts, seizing drugs worth more than $4,000.

For years, Hyderabad has been plagued by drug abuse, especially among the youth. In a major crackdown on drug abuse, the Cyberabad Police coordinated with Telanganas elite anti-narcotics unit, Eagle, to bust a rave party at Rajeshwari Nilayam service apartment in the citys outskirts. The raid resulted in the arrest of six people, including businessmen, a homemaker, a software engineer, and an engineering student, and the seizure of 20 grams of cocaine, 8 ecstasy pills (20 grams), and 3 grams of MDMA.

The raid was part of an intensified drive to curb the rising menace of rave parties and drug trafficking in the city.

Madhapur DCP G. Vineeth confirmed the arrest of two peddlers, a transporter, and three consumers, highlighting the prevalence of drug abuse among all segments of society.

Among those arrested was 28-year-old Teja, a mastermind who owned a cloud kitchen business. Police alleged that Teja sourced cocaine disguised as skin care injections via courier from a Rajahmundry-based supplier, Rahul, who is currently absconding.

The drugs were then circulated at parties in Hyderabad, farmhouses, and even in Goa.

Police identified Vikram, a poultry farm businessman; 41-year-old homemaker Neelima; 36-year-old Prashanth Reddy, a wine shop owner; 31-year-old Bhargav, a software engineer; and 20-year-old Chandan, an engineering student, as the other offenders involved in drug trafficking and consumption.

While Neelima had consumed three types of narcotics, Teja tested positive for five types of drugs.

The Cyberabad Police continue to investigate this matter and are looking to catch the supplier, Rahul, in addition to conducting further raids to curb the citys drug problem.
