Kapadipalem, Nellore - Too much of anything can be detrimental, and this holds true for ganja (cannabis) users in Nellore district. The Santapeta police recently arrested four individuals on charges of selling this contraband. They seized over six kilograms of ganja, along with cash and a vehicle, in an operation carried out on Sunday.
The arrests were made late Sunday night in Rayapu Street, Nellore city. Acting on specific information, the Santapeta police conducted the raid and apprehended the accused. The accused were identified as Sheikh Subhani, 36, Sheikh Siraj, 42, Kondra Jyothi, 45, and Sheikh Meera, 39. Police recovered 6.350 kilograms of ganja, Rs 22,500 in cash, and an auto from their possession.
Police said that the accused procured ganja from Visakhapatnam at the rate of Rs 10,000 per kilogram. They repackaged it into 10-gram sachets and sold each packet for Rs 300, thereby earning up to Rs 30,000 per kilogram. Subhani reportedly faced five ganja-related cases and a Preventive Detention (PD) Act history, while Siraj faced eight previous ganja cases. The police are investigating their spree further.
