AAP's Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj has accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of coercion during a raid conducted at his residence, and alleged a conspiracy by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena to falsely implicate him in a corruption case.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy Manish Sisodia rushed to Bharadwaj's residence shortly after the raid, alleging that the ED was being used to "intimidate" AAP leaders.
Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister, claimed that the raid was "nothing but drama" and that the ED officials, who were accompanied by police personnel, "forcibly" broke into Bharadwaj's house after he refused to let them in without a search warrant.
Sisodia further claimed that the ED has been targeting AAP leaders and officers linked to its mohalla clinics and education reforms. He asserted that the AAP does not engage in "corrupt practices," and called for an end to what he termed "political vendetta."
Reacting to the incident, Bharadwaj said that the ED officials questioned him about his personal life insurance and investments, and that of his wife and father, without providing any specifics.
He told reporters that the ED officials confiscated two mobile phones, three laptops, and some documents related to his personal finances before leaving after nearly three hours of searches.
This development comes shortly after the ED searched the residence of Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain, who is also an AAP leader, in connection with a money-laundering investigation.
