Noah Lyles stormed to the World Championship 200m title in July, but the American sprinter admits the weather conditions in Zurich have been a challenge.
The humidity and rain have been a factor in the Swiss city, but Lyles, who is vying for a record-extending sixth Diamond League crown, has refused to be distracted.
"My mind is on a different wavelength. I'm ready to run fast, and the weather is not going to change that," Lyles said.
Only three athletes in history have won more Diamond League titles than Lyles, who is looking to defend his crown in the 200m event against a new rival.
Just 19, Letsile Tebogo is a Botswanan running sensation. Tebogo, who was a 100m finalist at the World Athletics Championships in July, will be favorites for many in the Letzigrund Stadium.
"I think he's (Tebogo) going to be one of the next superstars of the sport. I'm looking forward to racing him," Lyles said. "I think he's gonna bring out the best in me."
Nonetheless, Lyles has been in superb form all season and will start as the favorite in a star-studded field.
The 24-year-old has not lost a 200m final in the Diamond League since 2018 and will hope to end his season with another victory on Thursday.
"I just want to do what I do. I know the challenges that I face, and I look forward to overcoming them," he said.
It promises to be an electrifying conclusion to the Diamond League season, with Lyles and Tebogo set to light up the track in Zurich.
