Heavy rains have damaged NH-44 in Kamareddy, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded. In response, the local police has announced diversion routes for different types of traffic.
Hundreds of cars, trucks, and heavy vehicles were stuck on NH-44 from Wednesday due to flooding and damage to the highway stretch between Kamareddy, Dichpally, and Armoor.
The Cyberabad Police announced diversions for traffic moving from Hyderabad towards Adilabad. Heavy vehicles traveling to Adilabad via NH-44 will be diverted at the Medchal Checkpost onto the Karimnagar Highway. The route will take them through Siddipet, Karimnagar, Jagityal, Korutla, Metpally, Armoor, and Adilabad.
Police have appealed to commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with officers at diversion points. Heavy vehicle drivers have been urged to adhere to the designated diversion routes to prevent congestion and ease traffic flow.
Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police Gajarao Bhupal stated that Traffic Police and Highway Patrol teams are stationed along the routes to assist motorists.
Similarly, Nirmal Police announced diversions for vehicles traveling from Adilabad towards Hyderabad, rerouting them through Nirmal, Khanapur, Metpally, Jagtial, and Karimnagar.
Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Seethakka chaired a teleconference on the flood situation in Kamareddy district, ordering on-site inspections in affected areas and the immediate relocation of residents to relief centers. She also directed officials to assess damages, drain water from submerged homes, and fast-track sanitation measures to prevent disease.
Seethakka said she would personally review the situation once the weather improved.
