Busting a network spanning party venues, farms, and Goa, Hyderabad police seized drugs & arrested 6, including a woman, and a student. They are hunting a Bengaluru supplier.
A routine drug raid on a Hyderabad apartment earlier this week has exposed what looks like a sizeable network bringing party drugs into the city and distributing them via a web of dealers and users.
On Monday, Cyberabad police arrested six people, including a woman in her 40s and a student, in connection with drug abuse and trafficking. The raid was carried out in collaboration with Telangana's elite anti-narcotics unit, Eagle, at the city's outskirts.
Police said that among those detained included two peddlers, a transporter, and three consumers. The mastermind, Teja, a 28-year-old cloud kitchen business owner, purchased the cocaine disguised as skin care products via courier from a Rajahmundry-based supplier. Teja then distributed the drugs at parties in Hyderabad, farmhouses, and even in Goa, where he also organized New Year parties, according to local media reports citing police.
The drugs were sourced from Rahul, a Bengaluru-based supplier, who is now absconding. Among the items seized were 20 grams of cocaine, eight ecstasy pills weighing 20 grams in total, and three grams of MDMA.
Police said that the raid was part of an intensified drive to curb the rising menace of rave parties and drug trafficking in the city. Investigations into the network and searches for the supplier, Rahul, are ongoing.
