A gang of eight people have been arrested in Telangana for fraudulently selling open plots worth 5 crore. The gang targeted vacant plots owned by elderly people or NRIs, forging documents to claim ownership. Rachakonda Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu warned citizens to verify land documents and urged them to attend sub-registrar offices, designated banks, or the portal www.shcilestamp.com before transactions.
The incident serves as a warning to citizens to be vigilant about their land ownership documents. It also highlights the importance of attending these offices to prevent illegal transactions. It's crucial to prioritize protecting personal property and assets.
According to the police, the gang targeted vacant plots owned by elderly people or NRIs and obtained certified copies and encumbrance certificates to create forged sale deeds, death certificates, heir certificates, and passports to claim ownership.
Police confiscated laptops, printers, scanners, fake stamps, polymer liquid, forged deeds for five properties, seven mobile phones, and a car. The accused, including Prasad, Somnath, and Hariprasad, had committed similar crimes since 2009.
This incident highlights the increasing number of property fraud cases in the district, reinforces the need to verify certified copies and encumbrance certificates, and stresses the importance of attending sub-registrar offices.
As a result, the district police have stepped up efforts to prevent such incidents and will initiate preventive detention proceedings. This incident serves as a reminder to citizens to be vigilant about such fraudulent activities and to check the validity of their property documents.
