Beijing is set to hold a massive military parade to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, and it has already confirmed the attendance of some of the world's most controversial leaders.

Powerful Chinese President Xi Jinping will welcome the likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to Beijing, amid growing tensions between China and many of its regional neighbours, as well as a bitter trade war with the United States.
