AP Governments Firm Commitment To Farmers: Nellore District Highlights Record Water Availability

Nellore, known for its vibrant history and agricultural prowess, is now witnessing a phenomenal record in water availability, promising ample irrigation for crops.

With the reservoirs brimming with water, the Endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy announced that Nellore district is witnessing record water availability, even after irrigating the second crop this season. Speaking to the media, he enthusiastically noted that the Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs were brimming, holding 90 to 100 TMCft together.

Minister Anam credited the effective water management shown by the government in its first year, not dropping a single drop of water go to waste and assuring irrigation for every crop. He urged farmers to diversify into commercial crops apart from paddy, highlighting the long-term plan of linking the Krishna, Godavari, and Penna rivers at a cost of INR 84,000 crore under the visionary leadership of CM N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He further added that discussions with neighboring states on water-sharing projects are underway, and the Polavaram project would be completed with central support, while the Banakacharla and Handri-Neeva projects will be operational shortly. The government is firmly committed to extending irrigation to every last acre, he assured.
