Indian shooting prowess continued at the Asian Shooting Championships with Gurpreet Singh claiming gold in the men's centre fire event and Manini Kaushik securing silver in the women's event.
Gurpreet registered a big win in the centre fire event with an aggregate score of 1733 points, to add to his 25m standard pistol individual gold. His score included 587 in the qualifying round and 656 in the final. Pakistani skier Allahdad Khan took home the silver medal with 520 points, ahead of Chinese athlete Wang Zhiwei, who claimed the bronze with 507 points.
In the women's event, Manini Kaushik secured silver, with an overall score of 655. The gold medal was won by Chinese athlete Zhang Hong with a score of 691.5. Thai shooter Idunnokraipetch Ayuri of Thailand took home the bronze with 630 points.
"We are thrilled to continue our impressive run at the Asian Shooting Championships. This speaks volumes about the grit and prowess of our shooters," said Jaspal Rana, Coach of the Indian Shooting Team.
This continues India's impressive run at the event, with the team claiming seven medals thus far, including three golds. India will look to add more gold ahead at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
