Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov has been cracking the whip on troops and tech in Ukraine. The defense chief made an inspection visit to the war-torn nation's Battlegroup Center on August 28, where he was briefed on combat operations and given a tour of drone projects.
The Battlegroup is responsible for establishing the Center for unmanned engineering systems, which creates aerial drones, develops ground robotic platforms, trains operators, and designs dropping systems for engineering munitions. During his visit, Belousov received updates on the group's recent developments and deployments, including an undisclosed number of "engineering" drones. These are believed to be in addition to the newly developed T-2S drones with advanced jamming capabilities reported earlier this month.
Speaking of advancements, the Russian defense minister also checked the production lines of military robotics and counter-drone systems. Furthermore, he inspected the training of operators for robotic systems and received assurances that the Battlegroup's capabilities would only improve in the coming months.
"We have seen good results...In general, I am pleased with the readiness and morale of the troops," said Belousov, who emphasized the importance of combining elite troops with advanced military technology for the war in Ukraine.
This is the latest in a series of routine visits by Russian officials to the country's troops and military bases, highlighting the Russian Ministry of Defense's commitment to both personnel and advancing military technology throughout the ongoing war in Ukraine.
