Vancouver's Downtown Eastside seized more than $2 million in cash and drugs through a recent raid, according to the Vancouver Police Department's Task Force Barrage.

The task force began investigating drug dealers who were operating out of a building near East Hastings and Gore Avenue earlier this spring. Officers raided the premises on July 17, seizing more than 14 kilograms of drugs, including 5.5 kilograms of cocaine, 5.3 kilograms of crystal meth, and 3.2 kilograms of fentanyl. The haul also included approximately 1,600 pills, including methadone and dilaudid. Police also seized $141,000 in Canadian and US cash.

Eighteen adults were arrested at the scene and have been released pending charges. Since its inception in February, Task Force Barrage has forwarded 492 cases to prosecutors for consideration of charges and has seized 1,145 weapons and 127 real and replica guns.
