Hyderabad is ensuring safety measures for women and children during the city's upcoming Ganesh festivities. The Hyderabad She Teams have partnered with a local taxi service, Uber, to provide women and children facing emergencies with safe transport to and from their homes during the celebrations.
The initiative comes after the city's largest Ganesh festival organiSation, Ganesh Utsav Mandal, announced that the biggest attraction, a giant Ganesh idol, would be installed near the TL Cochrane Bridge this year. Furthermore, additional measures are being taken to improve the response time of the She Teams' patrol cars and motorcycles.
Speaking at a joint press conference between the Hyderabad She Teams and Uber, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rohini Priyadarshini, stated, "The Hyderabad She Teams have already begun receiving training on dealing with gender-based violence, and we will do everything in our power to make sure that women and children feel safe during the festivities." The city hopes that these proactive safety measures will bolster the enjoyment of the festive season for all attendees, emphasizing the safety of vulnerable demographics.
Uber's spokesperson commented, "Women's safety is a priority for Uber, and we are proud to partner with the Hyderabad She Teams to provide safe transport during the city's festive celebrations." The collaboration intends to offer safeguarding initiatives for individuals partaking in the revelries.
