This year, overall crime has gone down by a whopping 12% as compared to the previous year. To add to this good news, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad Stephen Raveendra, announced that property offences have decreased by a further 28%, with property offences detection rate increasing by 14.6% and property offences recovery rate increasing by a whopping 10.2%.
Crime against women has reduced by a significant 8.3%, and crime against weaker sections is down by a 19.8% reduction.
To top it all off, road accidents have also decreased by a 19.08% reduction. If this is not a reason to celebrate, what is?
However, the commissioner did mention some areas where they still need to pull up their socks. For instance, cyber crimes have increased by a 25.84%, with 3,850 cases reported in 2021 and 4,850 in 2022. To tackle this, the Cyberabad police have launched several initiatives, with one initiative being the Telangana State Police Centre of Excellence for Cyber Safety, which was started this month, and the results of which are expected next year.
Other areas of concern are cheating cases, which have increased by 14.99%, and PITA cases, which have increased by 34.9%. NDPS cases have decreased by 9.75%, and murders have reduced by 15.45%. Rape cases have gone down by 12.2%, a huge win for the city.
With numbers like these, who would want to live anywhere else? With due respect to other cities, Hyderabad is undoubtedly the safest and best city to live in.
