Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Thursday to the families of the seven people who died in a stampede at a public meeting held by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore, and announced financial aid of Rs. 2 lakhs for the families of the deceased. 50,000 rupees will be given to each injured person from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

The stampede occurred when a scuffle broke out between party workers, causing chaos that led to multiple deaths and injured victims admitted to hospitals. Consequently, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Naidu announced that each family of the deceased would receive Rs. 10 lakhs, and the children of those who died would be given opportunities for education in NTR Trust educational institutions.
