A gang of men featuring known rowdies purportedly discusses a hit on Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy in a video doing the rounds on social media, sending shockwaves through the area and sparking a police investigation. The footage, which may have been recorded months prior to the 2024 assembly elections, is under examination by authorities. Police suspect the plan may have been hatched when Sridhar Reddy abandoned the YSR Congress for the Telugu Desam. Men identified as rowdy-sheeters Jagadeesh, Vineeth, Mahesh, and Jakeer were observed to be under the influence of alcohol during the incriminating video session.
The men are believed to be associated with rowdy-sheeter Srikanth and Nidigunta Aruna, both of whom are accused in multiple cases. Police are trying to establish who recorded the video and ascertain whether Srikanth and Aruna were directly involved. Sridhar Reddy has expressed shock at the incident and alleged that the police were already in possession of the footage for five days without taking any action or informing him. He threatened to file a complaint seeking an inquiry if action is not taken by tomorrow.
Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy stated that the conspiracies and activities of rowdies during the YSRC term are coming to light, compromising the area's peaceful image. He urged the police to take stern action against criminals and dismantle rowdy gangs.
The police, who are looking into the matter, stated that if the MLA seeks security, they will provide it.
