Belgian courts have dealt another setback to fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, rejecting his fresh bail plea ahead of his extradition hearing.

Mehul Choksi's bail plea was rejected by the Belgian Court of Appeal, CNS, citing his history of fleeing jurisdictions in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case. Choksi had submitted a fresh bail plea in November 2022, claiming that he suffered from chronic illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
