PC Ghose Commission's Kaleshwaram Report to be Debated in Telangana Assembly this Sunday

As recommended by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), the Telangana Assembly will debate the findings of the PC Ghose Commission of Inquiry this Sunday.

The move comes after a marathon meeting of the BAC, chaired by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, on Saturday, which for the second time in three months, recommended the government to take action on the Commission's report.

It remains to be seen whether the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led government will make any announcements or take any action based on the recommendations of the report.

The PC Ghose Commission was constituted in August 2021 to investigate allegations of irregularities and financial violations in the implementation of the Rs. 80,000 crore Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

The Commission submitted its report to the government in July 2022, but it has not been made public.

The BAC, which among other things, prepares a list of business to be taken up in the Assembly, issued a notice that the debate will be held under the provisions of Rule 170(2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

According to the BAC's list of business for Sunday's Assembly session, no other business is expected to be taken up.

It concludes stating that "the proceedings shall not exceed two hours and shall be concluded with a Resolution, if necessary."
