Lalit Modi Asks 'Why Is She Angry?' After Sreesanth's Wife Fumes At Slapgate Clip

The former IPL head ignites a fresh controversy with a tweet targeting Sreesanth's wife, Bhuvneshwari, over the 'slapgate' clip involving Harbhajan Singh, for which he was initially banned from the game.

Former India cricketer and BJP leader Lalit Modi once again courted controversy by tweeting a response to senior cricket administrator and wife of former India cricketer S Sreesanth, Bhuvneshwari, who expressed her anger at Modi for sharing the infamous "slapgate" video involving Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth.

In a tweet roughly translated from Hindi, Bhuvneshwari moderator aap ki madat hai, yeh galat hai (translating to: your help is needed, this is wrong), to which Lalit Modi responded by asking "why is she angry?" With the sudden burst of anger on the issue, Bhuvneshwari further challenged Harbhajan to deny the incident, saying that the truth will come out through the Delhi High Court, which is hearing the matter.

This fresh exchange comes after months of drama between the three former cricketers, all of whom have publicly expressed their sides of the story. In 2008, Sreesanth was accused of slapping Harbhajan during a match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians in Durban. The incident led to Sreesanth's eviction from the IPL venue, and subsequent suspension of his cricketing career.

Sreesanth, who was recently seen in the reality show 'Bigg Boss', has repeatedly asserted that he is seeking justice and wants an apology from Harbhajan. Delvealing further about the incident, Sreesanth had said that it was a planned move by the Mumbai Indians player, who had tried to provoke him throughout the game.

Harbhajan, who apologised to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his involvement in the incident, has consistently denied any malicious intent and claimed that it was Sreesanth who attacked him first.

With all parties expressing their frustration and anger on the issue, it remains to be seen whether the Delhi High Court, which is hearing the matter, will finally provide a resolution to the decade-long saga.
