In the last week of August, the She Teams in Cyberabad booked 45 people for harassment and indecency in public places. The teams carried out 152 decoy operations and handled 15 fresh complaints from victims.
The Cyberabad Police have been actively working to ensure women and children feel safe in the city. Apart from enforcement operations, they conducted 69 awareness programmes on safety across various locations.
They organised 4 counselling sessions at the Women and Children Safety Wing and handled 23 cases of domestic disputes at the Family Counselling Centre. The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) carried out night raids, rescuing 13 transgender people and two women involved in prostitution.
The unit also organised awareness drives covering issues such as trafficking, social media harassment, child marriages, child labour, stalking, cyberbullying, and cyberfrauds. The Suraksha Kavach programme was launched at Shri Ram Academy International School to enhance safety in schools. The programme focuses on four pillars, including physical safety, cyber safety, psychological safety, and road and infrastructure safety.
DCP Srujana, Women and Child Safety Wing, conducted a meeting with the SSC School Association to expand the programme to over 100 schools. Joint Commissioner of Police, Gajarao Bhupal, also held a strategic meeting with school heads to ensure safety in and around school zones.
The meeting reviewed current practices and explored practical solutions to ensure student safety.
With these ongoing initiatives, the city is taking steps to become a safer place for women and children.
