With the Hyderabad annual Ganesh immersion upon us, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand held a crucial review meeting with South Zone police today to prepare for the large annual event. The meeting discussed strategies to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of immersions, aiming to address law and order concerns arising from the overlap with Milad-un-Nabi, although the procession has been shifted to September 14.
Anand highlighted the need to prevent previous year's shortcomings and directed officials to take adequate precautions to prevent any recurrence. Emphasizing the importance of a detailed action plan, the commissioner outlined the need to facilitate the speedy transportation of Ganesh idols to immersion points, minimize congestion on roads and maintain public order and safety.
The commissioner also underscored the importance of proactive policing in sensitive areas, ensuring that security personnel remain vigilant always.
Instructions were issued to all departments to coordinate effectively, particularly traffic and law and order units, to handle the large crowds and processions expected in South Zone.
DCP (South Zone) Sneha Mehra, DCP (Special Branch) K. Apoorva Rao, DCP (Traffic) R. Venkateshwarlu, Task Force officers, and officials from all South Zone police stations were in attendance.
Elaborate arrangements, including traffic diversions and deployment numbers, will be announced in the next few days.
