Ajit Pawar Highlights NCP's Commitment to Secularism; Advocates for Fair Implementation of Ladki Bahin Scheme

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar reaffirmed his party’s dedication to secularism and progressive values while cautioning against divisive politics and corruption. Speaking at the inauguration of the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) district office in Jalna, Pawar emphasized the importance of social harmony and urged party workers to uphold transparency in their activities.

"Maharashtra has always been a symbol of progressive thinking and unity. The NCP is firmly committed to secularism and social harmony. We will not allow anyone to disrupt this with hatred or divisive tactics," Pawar asserted. He also advised party workers to exercise caution while inducting new members, stressing the need to avoid individuals with questionable backgrounds and ensure transparency in their dealings.

Addressing the Ladki Bahin Yojana, a government initiative designed to provide financial aid to economically disadvantaged women, Pawar revealed that the state government had allocated ₹3,700 crore to the Women and Child Development Department for the scheme. This, he noted, fulfills a significant electoral promise. However, Pawar urged beneficiaries with an annual income of ₹2.5 lakh or more to voluntarily opt out, ensuring that the assistance reaches those in genuine need.

"This scheme is intended for economically disadvantaged women, but it has come to light that some individuals, including income tax filers, are availing of its benefits. I appeal to them to step back so the aid can reach those truly in need," Pawar said. He added that eligible beneficiaries would start receiving the ₹1,500 monthly allowance by January 26.

Pawar also took the opportunity to critique opposition parties for their inconsistent stance on certain electoral issues, including their skepticism about electronic voting machines (EVMs). He emphasized the importance of maintaining clarity and consistency in public discourse, particularly on matters of national significance.

By focusing on progressive governance and fair implementation of welfare schemes, Pawar reiterated the NCP’s vision of a united and equitable Maharashtra.
