'Game of Thrones' Actor Decries Palestinian Crisis as 'Shameful Period'

"Game of Thrones" actor Liam Cunningham, famed for his role as Davos Seaworth, has decried the ongoing Palestinian crisis as a "shameful period in history." The veteran Irish actor, who joined a flotilla to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, fought back tears listening to the recording of a child killed by Israeli authorities. Cunningham's impassioned speech came as Greta Thunberg and other activists gathered in Barcelona for the Global Sumud Flotilla departure. It aimed to raise awareness and garner support for the Palestinians in Gaza.

The actor, whose character in "Game of Thrones" was known for his unwavering moral conviction, did not hold back his emotions as he condemned the international community's inaction over the tragedy in Palestine, calling it a shameful period in history. He urged politicians and leaders to take action and ensure that the tragic incidents unfolding in Palestine are stopped.

"We are here to say that enough is enough, that the global inaction on this crime against humanity here in Palestine must end," he said.

The flotilla, comprising of several boats, is set to leave Barcelona on Thursday, with Thunberg among those onboard.

As Cunningham, who also appeared in "The Crown" and "Cleopatra" fought back tears, he said: "when I hear a child crying in agony, and I know that that baby, that child, that young person has been killed by an illegal bomb dropped on them by a member of the United Nations."

"It's a shameful period in history and it has to end, and it has to end now," he concluded, urging journalists to report on what is happening in Palestine and for leaders to act.
