Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy has accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government of circulating attempt to murder videos to divert attention from the controversial parole of a history-sheeter.
Addressing the media for the first time since his release on bail, Reddy claimed the videos were a "political drama" to cover up the activities of A Srikanth, who was paroled by the government despite accusations of attempted murder.
Reddy, a member of the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), alleged that the videos were a diversionary tactic to distract from the coalition's involvement with Srikanth.
He warned MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who has openly criticized the YSRCP and demanded a probe into the parole, to "watch his speech" and challenged him to petition for a CBI investigation if he is sincere.
Reddy claimed that Srikanth's followers, who were seen in the video discussing the murder of a ruling party MLA, were actually followers of Sridhar Reddy.
He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of having lost control over his MLAs and neglecting farmers, emphasizing that his predecessor YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had prioritized farmers' welfare.
The controversial parole has sparked a broader debate over crime and politics in the state.
