A recent death threat video of Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy has instilled fear among political parties in the district. This has caused ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to trade accusations.

Mr. Sridhar Reddy, a three-time MLA, is known for developing his constituency with works that exceeded 300 crore during his tenure. However, observers note that his frequent presence amongst rowdy-sheeters in the area may cause him to be a soft target. This is not the first threat the outspoken MLA has received. He has claimed that after he previously announced his departure from the YSRCP, he received numerous threatening phone calls.

YSRCP's Kakani Govardhan Reddy, former minister and president of the party in Nellore, believes that Mr. Sridhar Reddy's accusations are a "flimsy" attempt to deflect attention from his parole request to rowdy-sheeter Srikanth. Despite no formal charges filed by the police, Mr. Sridhar Reddy is pressing the department to investigate who was behind the threat.
