Narcotics Seizures Alarm Border Officials

Drug awareness took centre stage at the Attari-Wagah border with a series of street plays organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to sensitize the public about the harmful effects of drugs. The campaign, which concluded on Saturday, was motivated by the high volume of narcotic seizures in the border belt.

The NCB aimed to combat drug abuse through social awareness, launching the campaign with a play on Independence Day. With the help of the Border Security Force (BSF), two programs were held at Border Outpost (BOP) Fatehpur and the Attari-Wagah border. The street plays vividly demonstrated the deadly consequences of drug abuse, the dangers of trafficking, and the socio-economic damage associated with drug abuse.

Deputy Director General (NWR) Sambit Mishra and Additional Director Shanteshwar Swami urged the audience to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs. They called on people to support authorities in taking stringent action against drug traffickers and act as guardians in their communities, supporting government initiatives to treat and rehabilitate those affected by drug abuse.

The fight against drugs is not the responsibility of any single institution or government department but rather a collective responsibility of every citizen, officials emphasized. They appealed to people to carry the anti-drug message into every household and help secure a drug-free future for the next generation.

Narcotic substance abuse has become a serious global problem, including in India. The drug menace harms health, destroys families, and weakens communities.
