Following the verdict in the Bikram Singh Majithia drug case, AAP leaders in Punjab have praised the verdict and asserted that the Punjab Police acted rightly in investigating the matter.
"The verdict has exposed the lies of the Akalis. Majithia was himself seen with drug lords. During their tenure, the state saw the rise of drugs that led to the loss of many young lives. They must now own up to this responsibility," said Kultar Singh Dhaliwal, a spokesperson for the AAP.
Dhaliwal added that the evidence presented by the AAP government was sufficient to prove Majithia's culpability in the matter.
"Everyone knew that he was involved with drug lords. Even today, Akali leaders make these charges lightly, saying they are false. But the court has deemed the evidence strong, and the case solid," he said.
Speaking to the media, another AAP leader, Kunwar Hiten Singh Pannu, revealed that Majithia's aide, identified only as Satta, is currently wanted in Canada, and the Indian government is seeking his extradition.
"Satta's revelations will expose the deep political links with the drug mafia in Punjab. There are many big fish still left to be caught," Pannu said.
