Punjab Police have launched a massive statewide raid as a part of an anti-drug operation.
The crackdown comes after the state government issued orders to control the drug menace in the province.
The raid was initiated at 750 locations across the state simultaneously, which included erring villages and narcotics recovery zones.
As per reports, the state police have been actively pursuing drug traffickers and suppliers for the past few months. This renewed operationally is intended to further supplement the previous action.
This operation was led by DSP rank officers and assisted by the police force of the state. The operation is said to have been prepared under the guidance of Siddhartha M Laheri, IPS, DGP, and state police chief.
Laheri commented on the operation by saying, "There is a need to take the war against drugs to the next level and make concerted efforts to eradicate the problem."
Today's surprise raid is a part of the ongoing operation, and police officers have successfully recovered a substantial amount of drugs since the morning.
The state police have been extensively training to combat drug trafficking and plan to make further arrests and seizures in the coming days.
