Karoline Leavitt, at just 27 years old, has made history as the youngest White House press secretary. A New Hampshire native, Leavitt studied communications and political science at Saint Anselm College. Her career in press relations began with internships at Fox News and in the White House press office during Donald Trump’s first term, experiences she credits with inspiring her career path.

After graduating in 2019, Leavitt joined the Trump administration as a presidential speechwriter and later became an assistant press secretary, where she helped prepare then-Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany for high-stakes media briefings. Following her White House tenure, she served as communications director for Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik before running for Congress in 2022. Despite losing the general election, she remained a prominent conservative voice, aligning closely with Trump’s policies on taxes, immigration, and law enforcement.

Leavitt returned to Trump’s orbit as his campaign press secretary during his 2024 presidential bid. In November, Trump announced her appointment as White House press secretary, praising her as a “smart” and “highly effective communicator.” She steps into a role marked by high visibility and historical significance, following in the footsteps of press secretaries from Trump’s first term, including Sean Spicer and Kayleigh McEnany.
