Harbhajan Slams Ex-IPL Chief For Releasing Video Of Him Slapping Sreesanth

India spinner Harbhajan Singh has criticized the ex-Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sundar Raman, for making public a video that showed Singh slapping former India teammate S. Sreesanth during an IPL match in 2008.

Raman, who oversaw the league for over a decade, tweeted the video on Instagram on Tuesday, saying it had "got to be shown" and that "justice needs to be done."

Harbhajan, who was banned for five matches over the incident, told ABP News: "I am shocked that Sundar Raman, who was associated with the IPL for 15 years, has done something like this.

"He should have thought about the impact it would have on the careers and lives of the people involved. I don't know what result he wanted out of this. I think it's unfair."

The incident, which occurred after the conclusion of the KXIP-MI IPL match on April 25, 2008, in Mohali, saw Harbhajan lose his cool and slap Sreesanth during the post-match player's handshake.

While Harbhajan was suspended for five matches and Sreesanth for the rest of the season, the pair made up the following season and played together for Mumbai Indians.

Sreesanth, who is now the president of the Kerala Cricket Association, told Sportstar that Raman's decision to share the video was "completely unfair."

"I don't know why he did that," Sreesanth said. "I haven't seen the video. I heard it's there on Instagram. I am not on any social media platform. Those who are close to me know that I don't seek any attention.

"I was shocked when I came to know that the video has gone viral. I have always considered M.S. Dhoni, Harbhajan, and all my other teammates as my brothers. I have no complaints against anyone. I have moved on."

Raman, who is now the interim CEO of the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, captioned his post: "Even as lives and careers can be ruined by one slap, the impact is certainly more damaging than a physical injury.

"Harbhajan Singh slapped S Sreesanth, who was then playing for Kings XI Punjab, at the end of an IPL match in 2008. Singh was banned for five matches, and Sreesanth for the rest of the season. Slapgate.Justice needs to be done."

The shocking video has since been removed from Raman's Instagram account.
