A death threat video that surfaced on social media has led to accusations being traded between the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh.

The threat video was made to Nellore Rural MLA and three-time elected representative Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, and appears to show a group of men, alleged to be rowdy-sheeters, brandishing guns and saying that they had been contracted to kill the legislator.

Reddy has claimed that the video is genuine, and that it is the YSRCP that is behind the plot, but the YSRCP has dismissed the claims, suggesting that the MLA is trying to curry favor with his political bosses.

The police have not yet registered a case, but have picked up five of the men seen in the video for questioning.

Reddy has complained that he was not informed by the police for three days after they saw the video, and has asked them to find out who commissioned his murder.
