MLAs of coalition parties are allegedly involved in corruption and illegal mining, alleges Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Nellore district president of the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).
In a serious allegation, Reddy claimed that local legislators and officials are involved in rampant corruption and illegal mining in the Kavali constituency. The alleged misdeeds have been occurring in the jurisdiction of the Kavali Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Kavali Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC), which constitute the assembly segment.
Reddy accused the ruling party of turning a blind eye to the issue.
"The ruling party is involved in corruption and illegal mining in the constituency for the past five years. Despite several complaints, no action has been taken by the government," Reddy said.
The leader further alleged that the opposition party is also aware of these irregularities but has turned a blind eye out of fear. He emphasized that the mining scandal involves a few influential people.
"The mining business is being carried out in an illegal manner with the support of the ruling party. Even the opposition parties are aware of this, but they are scared to speak up due to the might of those involved," said Reddy.
Reddy called for an immediate inquiry by the appropriate authorities to address the issue.
"I request the Election Commission to intervene and conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter. I hope that my allegations will act as a catalyst for the initiation of a proper and thorough investigation," he said.
The allegations have brought attention to a crucial constituency ahead of the polls. It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to the charges and whether any action will be taken.
