Expressing shock at the alleged scam in the Madurai Corporation, where Mayor MK Meena was suspended for her alleged key role in covering up a property tax scam, AIADMK General Secretary Palaniswami accused the DMK government of shielding the culprits.

Speaking to the media, Palaniswami said that the Mayor's involvement was paramount for such a large-scale fraud to occurnece, stating that the Mayor was the head of the corporation and that the irregularities could not have happened without her knowledge or instruction.

He further accused the DMK government of trying to protect the Mayor despite her clear involvement in the scandal.

"The DMK govt. is trying to protect the Mayor. They are trying to save their face in the upcoming polls, but we will not let that happen", he said.

The Opposition Party has demanded Meena's resignation as Mayor and also wanted the DMK regime to order a thorough investigation into the scandal by an independent agency.

Palaniswami concluded by saying that the AIADMK would not rest until justice was served and that the people of Madurai and Tamil Nadu deserved better.
