A dramatic vehicle theft case has been solved by the Dindoshi Police involving a cleaner who stole his employer's vehicle and tried to flee to his native Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
The cleaner, Nandlal Rajput, 25, was employed by a Malad-based company named Nancy Impact Consumer Authority District Agency, for the past 8 years. During his employment, he learned to drive and had frequently taken care of local deliveries.
On August 27, Nandlal was assigned to deliver goods between Malad and Dahisar in a vehicle carrying products worth approximately Rs. 2 lakh, along with Rs. 53,000 in cash payments from customers. However, due to some undelivered goods, he returned the vehicle to his employer late night on August 27.
Shockingly, in the early morning of August 28, when the owner of the agency arrived, the vehicle and Nandlal were both missing. When the police began their investigation, they discovered that the cleaner had stolen the vehicle and was on his way to his hometown in Fatehpur district.
The police managed to track Nandlal with the help of the FASTag sticker installed on the vehicle. Due to a lack of GPS access, Nandlal had gotten lost and reached Hyderabad, Telangana.
Upon reaching Hyderabad, Nandlal switched on his phone and was located by the police. He was then detained by the Hyderabad police, and the case was brought back to Mumbai, where the Dindoshi police recovered the stolen vehicle.
Currently, Nandlal is in judicial custody, and the police are investigating the case.
