The University of Surrey, a prestigious UK-based institution, has announced its plans to establish an offshore campus in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). This initiative is being undertaken in collaboration with GUS Global Services, a prominent transnational education provider. The move is set to further enhance India’s position as a global education hub by offering world-class academic programs to students without requiring them to go abroad.
This development makes Surrey the third UK university to set up a campus at GIFT City, following Queen’s University Belfast and Coventry University, both of which have received approval from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). The presence of these institutions is part of a growing trend, with Australian universities such as Deakin and Wollongong already operating at the financial hub. GIFT City is thus emerging as a center for international higher education, catering to students seeking global exposure and top-tier academic opportunities.
