India's youth embracing greener mobility options

With a desire to empower India's youth and encourage sustainable transportation, the state government of Andhra Pradesh is distributing free bicycles to high school students in Addanki constituency. So far, over 3,000 bicycles have been distributed across local government schools with the support of corporate social responsibility funds from entities such as ASSIST and Megha.

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar highlighted the initiative on Monday while personally handing out bicycles to 316 students at GHS in J Panguluru. He expressed the government's commitment to providing necessary infrastructure for students, hoping that government school students will excel and compete with those from corporate schools. The minister also distributed NTR Bharosa pensions to villagers in J Panguluru and cheques from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to 41 beneficiaries from the area.

In collaboration with the Vidyonnati Foundation, Ongole, scholarships worth INR 3 lakh were distributed to 30 students at the event, which took place in J Panguluru village. This initiative is expected to encourage greener mobility and help reduce carbon emissions in the country.

It is a step in the right direction for the state's youth to adopt sustainable transportation and reduce their carbon footprint. The initiative aims to empower students to travel to schools more efficiently and reduce the financial burden on their families.

With an emphasis on equality and social development, this move is expected to benefit over 3,000 students across government schools in the constituency.

"I am very grateful to the government for providing us with this assistance. This bicycle will be very useful for me to reach my school and college," said student K Srinivasulu, expressing his joy and gratitude.

This initiative in Andhra Pradesh is a prominent example of a proactive policy aimed at promoting sustainable transportation and youth empowerment.
