Hyderabad police are tightening security for the upcoming Ganesh immersion event, even as they warn citizens of rising online fraud cases. While two recent cases led to combined losses of Rs. 2 lakh, the police chief stressed the importance of public safety, urging attendees to cooperate with officials for peaceful celebrations.

Safety First: Heightened Security for Ganesh Immersion

In preparation for the Ganesh immersion event, Hyderabad police are taking extra security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful gathering for all attendees. Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand recently held a review meeting at Madhuranagar police station, starting at Banjara Hills, Borabanda, and Rahmatnagar.

While instructing officials to ensure foolproof security for the immersion processions, Anand emphasized the priority of public safety and encouraged organizers to encourage early idol immersion and cooperate with the police.

Anand advised organizers and volunteers to stay at pandals during the night and be cautious of rain-related risks. He also instructed the officers on law and order, traffic, SHE Teams, and local police to be on the lookout for pickpocketing, chain-snatching, and eve-sexual harassment during the event.

Online Fraud Warning

Fraudsters are targeting innocent citizens with online fraud, according to Hyderabad cyber crime police, who registered two recent cases involving fake customer care scams and wallet transactions.

In the first case, fraudsters posing as Blinkit customer service executives tricked a man and his family into downloading a malicious APK file, accessing their devices, and withdrawing money from their accounts.

In the second case, a 37-year-old man lost Rs. 1.11 lakh from his Amazon Pay wallet due to unauthorized transactions after fraudsters hacked his account and changed his registered mobile number and email ID.

The police warned citizens not to trust customer care numbers found online and to be cautious of APK files received via WhatsApp or Telegram. They advised people to enable two-factor authentication on their wallets and to closely monitor account activity.

Safety First: Police Assaulted by Violators of Permitted Timings

Vansthalipuram police arrested three people, including a food stall worker, after they assaulted two on-duty police personnel at Chintalkunta. Constable Lingam and home guard Yadayya were instructing the food stall to close at around 2 am as it violated permitted timings when Rakesh and Prasad started arguing with the officers. The argument escalated into a physical assault.

All three, including the food stall operator, Vanam Pavan, 19, were taken into custody and produced before the court, which remanded them. Officials warned that eateries operating beyond permitted hours would face strict legal action.
