TS Employees Go All Out To Demandabolition of CPS

Since the Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee (TEJAC) meeting on Monday, calls for the restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS) have grown louder. TEJAC urged the state government to abolish the contributory pension scheme (CPS) within a year and warned that it would intensify its agitation if the demand was ignored.

According to estimates, approximately Rs.1450 crore goes into the stock market every month through CPS. This money could be better used for public welfare programmes. TS Employees Say Restoring OPS would boost employee morale and productivity.

Congress governments in other states have already restored OPS, and TEJAC chairman Maram Jagadishwar and secretary general Eluri Srinivas Rao, representing 207 associations, stated that the fight for OPS would continue until fulfilled. They criticized the government for what they described as "double standards" in implementing different policies across states.
