Mohit Sharma Recalls How His Act Angered MS Dhoni: 'He Lost His Cool & Abused Me...'

Toward the beginning of Mohit Sharma's cricketing vocation, MS Dhoni was a lot more keen on observing and supporting him than shouting obscenities at him. During a CLT20 experience, the previous India commander completely lost his cool when Mohit didn't take a solitary wicket in four overs and ultimately got hammered for runs.

As per Sharma, who spoke openly about the incident for the first time, Dhoni kicked the seat in front of him, yelled at him, and chose to substitute him from the bowling attack. This was a rare display of anger from MS Dhoni, which is reminisced by Sharma today.

"I was doing a fine job for the team and was always ready to go in and bowl. I always wanted to be there when the team needed me, but I never expected this to happen. I was bowling well, but I was unaware that Mahi bhai was not happy with my bowling in the nets, Sharma disclosed.

"Eventually, I was selected for the Chennai Super Kings squad, and everything was going smoothly until the incident in the CLT20. We were playing a crucial match, and I was expected to bowl tight overs. Unfortunately, I couldn't do so, and Mahi bhai lost his cool," he added.

Sharma further said that Dhoni was adamant about not bowling him in that match and hence, he was sat out for the remainder of the game. However, Dhoni later apologized for his behavior and Sharma appreciated his sportsmanship.

"He came to me after the game and apologized for his behavior. He said he was expecting more from me and that I should have taken at least one or two wickets," Sharma further added.

"He treated me like a son after that and always supported me. We won that CLT20 and I was picked as the 'Emerging Player of the Tournament,' and I give credits to Mahi bhai for that," Sharma concluded.
