Mystery Bag Tossed From White House Bags Internet's Attention: 'Is Melania Escaping?'.

You may have heard of the child's game "Tiddlywinks", well it would seem there is a new game in town called "Wink-and-Splash"? And it seems like the main player is the White House.

On the evening of Labor Day, online conspiracy theories ran wild after a dark bag was seemingly thrown from one of the White House windows, landing in a bush below. However, it was the caption on a now-viral photo of the bag that really sparked internet hysteria.

The photo, taken by a Reuters photographer, showed the bag on the bush with the caption "In this image taken from video made available by KRT/Korea News Broadcasting, a dark bag is thrown from a White House window onto the North Lawn on Sept. 5, 2022". But it was the question asked by many Twitter users that drew attention to the caption.

"Is that Melania escaping?" @Lady_Hepburn queried, sparking a host of responses.

Of course, it didn't take long for the conspiracy theories to ramp up, with some speculating it was someone trying to escape the Biden administration, while others thought it may have been a White House intern, and others thought it was Melania Trump escaping the clutches of the current First Lady.

But the most likely and boring explanation (besides it being a massive distraction if someone had indeed jumped out the window) is that it was most likely a wreath that had been placed on the Bush to mark Labor Day, according to NBC News.

Either way, it didn't take long for the Secret Service to move swiftly, and the bag was removed from the bush, according to CNN.

"The Secret Service can confirm that the item was a wreath-laying ceremony ribbon which had fallen from one of the doors at the Main Entrance," they said in a statement. "The wreath itself was still secured and hanging on the door at the time. The doorway is one that is frequently used by staff and guests to enter the North Lawn."

And there we have it, the internet once again thinks it has discovered a massive conspiracy, when in fact, it was probably a wreath lying on the floor that had fallen off one of the doors.

Maybe the White House needs to send the maintenance crew a thank you note for picking up their literal garbage.
